The conference "The future role of National Hydrometeorological Services - Leadership and management" was held in Geneva

Deputy Minister of Environment Tigran Gabrielyan took part in the conference "The future role of National Hydrometeorological Services - Leadership and Management" held in Geneva.
On November 2, the VI Regional Conference (RECO) "The future role of national Hydrometeorological services -leadership and management" started at the headquarters of the World Meteorological Organization (Geneva). The forum will last until November 4 of this year.
Together with delegates from other countries in the forum at the invitation of the WMO Secretary General P. Taalas, The delegation of the Ministry of Environment headed by Deputy Minister Tigran Gabrielyan, other participants Acting Director of the “Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center” SNCO L. Azizyan and Chief Adviser to the Director of the HMC, Valentina Grigoryan are also taking part in the forum.
The purpose of the forum is to provide an opportunity to discuss the approval of a unified policy of these air defense systems.
Data integration involves the creation of new partnerships at the national level, which should be supported by partnerships and the involvement of the private and academic sectors at the regional level. In this context, the future role of national meteorological and hydrological services, as well as the adaptation of relevant legislation and infrastructure, will be discussed.
Regional Association of Air Defense Systems within the framework of the regional conference VI (Europe) (RECO 2022), a report was presented on the topic "Climate change in Europe in 2021". The report is the first edition of the annual report on scientific policy. The report summarizes the status of the main climate indicators using operational monitoring systems of Air Defense System members and partner organizations, including analysis of the latest data and information from UN agencies on impacts, risks and policies: It addresses specific scientific, physical, socio-economic and political aspects related to the WMO VI Regional Association (Europe) and addresses the needs of WMO members in the field of monitoring, climate change and climate services. The report also applies the latest findings of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and Copernicus Climate Change reports in Europe. This joint publication highlights cooperation in promoting climate action: This science-based policy report provides annual monitoring of climate indicators with reports on risks, actions and impacts based on authoritative data from regional climate centers, national meteorological and hydrological services and UN agencies.
During the presentation of the report, Deputy Minister Tigran Gabrielyan also made a speech, presenting the change in climate situations in the Republic of Armenia in 2021.
The Conference will provide a consensus advisory document to prepare for the high-level ministerial event to be held in 2023 (before or after the upcoming meeting of the World Meteorological Congress).
