Caucasian Red Deer Breeding Center in Dilijan National Park

There are already 26 Caucasian deer in the center, soon 5 of them will be released into the forest.
Until 1954, the Caucasian red deer was widely distributed in the northern, eastern and southern forests of Armenia. However, because of the poaching and merciless deforestation, it gradually disappeared from the territory of Armenia:
The "Caucasian Red Deer Resettlement Program in Armenia" was initiated by the RA Ministry of Environment and the Armenian branch of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in 2013. The Caucasus Nature Fund  (CNF) also took an active part in the implementation of the program.
Today, the Caucasian red deer is included in the Red Book of the Republic of Armenia and according to the standards of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is assessed as "in critical condition".
