The session of the RA-EU Partnership Committee established under the RA-EU Comprehensive and Extended Partnership Agreement (CEPA) was held in Brussels

2023 from June 27 to 28, the 4th session of the RA-EU Partnership Committee established under the RA-EU Comprehensive and Extended Partnership Agreement (CEPA) was held in Brussels, in which Gayane Gabrielyan, Deputy Minister of Environment, participated as part of the RA delegation.
During the session, the parties discussed the implementation of the RA-EU Comprehensive and Extended Partnership Agreement and referred to a number of other issues of the bilateral cooperation agenda.
The EU welcomed Armenia's continued commitment to implementing reforms in line with common values.
Since 2019, the Ministry of Environment has started the implementation of the relevant actions provided for in the "Environment" and "Climate Change" chapters of the "Roadmap" of the Comprehensive and Extended Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed between the European Union and the Republic of Armenia.
Chapter 5, "Environment" provides more than 100 measures aimed at harmonizing national legislation in accordance with more than 20 EU directives. Harmonization will ensure progress in environmental management, especially in environmental impact assessment, strategic environmental assessment, environmental education, transboundary cooperation and public access to environmental information.
Deputy Minister Gayane Gabrielyan presented that during the reporting period (2022 - 2023), the Ministry of Environment carried out a number of activities related to water resources management, biodiversity conservation, waste management, environmental impact assessment and atmospheric air quality.
Armenia and the EU have agreed to strengthen their cooperation, emphasizing the active involvement of the EU in the South Caucasus, as well as to continue to make joint efforts in the direction of the implementation of the GCC, recording the progress recorded so far.
