Deputy Minister of Environment Aram Meymaryan is on a working visit to Syunik region

Deputy Minister of Environment Aram Meymaryan is on a working visit to Syunik region on July 12-15 to get acquainted with the current work on the management of specially protected natural territories that are part of the Zangezur Biosphere Complex.
The SNCO includes the state reserve "Shikakhoh", the national Park "Arevik", the reserve "Bohakar", the reserve "Sycamore Park", the reserve "Zangezur", the reserve "Khustup", the reserve "Black Lake".
In the city of Kapan, the Deputy Minister held a meeting with employees of the Zangezur Biosphere Complex.
At the meeting with the staff, the Deputy Minister first expressed satisfaction with the progress of the work, then touched upon the Ministry's programs aimed at managing specially protected natural territories.
"The management of specially protected natural territories in the Syunik region differs from our other territories in its peculiarities, but, as in our other structures, here we strive to follow the path of qualitative changes, we are moving towards effective protection, management and development of the capabilities of specially protected natural territories. When developing policies and cooperating with international partners, we try to do our best, "we hope that the ongoing programs will have a positive impact on the further development and establishment of the Zangezur biosphere complex, making it a specially protected natural area that meets international requirements and standards," the Deputy Minister said.
Then, accompanied by the Director of the SNCO Arman Mkrtchyan, the Deputy Minister visited the SNCO and got acquainted with the biodiversity of the SNCO, the features of protected areas, opportunities and tourist potential on the spot.
The Deputy Minister visited the State Reserve "Shikahoh", then in the administrative building of the branch "Shikahoh" held a meeting with the staff of the branch, the existing problems were discussed, the need for their accurate inventory and voicing through appropriate channels:
Aram Meimaryan also visited the mural "elephant chicks", located about 25 km from the city of Kapan, on the road leading to the state reserve "Shikakhoh", the possibilities of certification of the monument were discussed.
The Deputy Minister also visited the nature reserve "Sycamore Park" of the Nerkin Khand community, got acquainted on the spot with the largest natural park of the Eastern sycamore in the Caucasus and the peculiarities of its protection, the nursery and the possibilities of the proposed route. Issues related to the effective conservation of the reserve and its biodiversity were discussed.
Aram Meymaryan visited the Arevik branch, met with the employees of the branch in the administrative building, got acquainted with the situation and opportunities.
Then he visited the territory of the Arevik National Park, and in the Bohakar Nature Reserve he visited the Bohakar Waterfall. The visit of the Deputy Minister continued to the reserve "Zangezur", where he observed animals at an altitude of 3600 m.
Concluding his working visit to Syunik region, Aram Meymaryan visited the Khustup Nature Reserve, then climbed to the top of Khustup.
