MORE THAN 300,000 SMALL FISH OF TROUT WERE RELEASED   BACK TO LAKE SEVAN

Acting Deputy Minister of Environment Vardan Melikyan  followed the release activities of 62.500 small fish with the average weight of 3 grams of Gegarkunik trout and 240.000 small fish weighing 1,75 grams, which were once again implemented by “Foundation for Restoration of Sevan Trout Stocks and Development for Aquaculture”. The release of small fish was performed in the middle and lower streams of Karchaghbyur and Masrik Rivers flowing into the lake. Before releasing the small fish, Vardan Melikyan considered issues regarding the registration of fish reserves and the acquisition of the necessary equipment with the representatives of the foundation, field specialists. Additionally, a reference was made to the issues concerning crayfish reserves in the course of the discussion. Among other issues, fish poacher issue was reflected, which significantly has an impact on the reduction of fish reserves. The Staff of the Ministry of Environment and “Foundation for Restoration of Sevan Trout Stocks and Development for Aquaculture” participated in the works. The release of small fish is continued. Its goal is to restore the fish reserves of Sevan trout - which have been declining for years in Lake Sevan - and by dint of it to promote the restoration of the violated ecosystem of the lake.
