The 4-year program "Waste management policy in Armenia" has been launched

At the American University of Armenia, the Jacobian Environmental Center, the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia and the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia jointly launched a 4-year program "Waste management Policy in Armenia", funded by Sweden.
Program Manager Harutyun Alpetyan presented three main goals of the program: Assistance to the Ministry of Environment in the implementation of an expanded producer responsibility system based on EU best practices, assistance to the Ministry of Environmental Protection in the implementation of a primary waste separation system in the city of Sevan and other pilot communities and assistance in the development and expansion of opportunities in this area.
According to Deputy Minister Gayane Gabrielyan, this is a kind of cooperation between the two countries and the university for the benefit of solving one of the most important tasks of the country.
"Waste management, in fact, is one of the most important parts of the environmental agenda and the circular economy, which summarizes the framework of the green agenda."
"The tools and approaches developed by the program will help the government fulfill its obligations and promote the green economy agenda," Harutyun Alpetyan added.
