On November 6, there kicked off the workshop on nationally determined contributions under the Paris Agreement, on the initiative of the Ministry of Environment and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The workshop is focused on implementation and enhancement of nationally determined contributions, pinpointing of primary spheres and strengthening of sectoral cooperation between stakeholder agencies.
Deputy Minister of Environment Irina Ghaplanyan, UNDP Acting Resident Representative in Armenia Michaela Stokoska and representatives of other institutions took part in the event.
Addressing those in attendance, Deputy Minister of Environment Irina Ghaplanyan reflected upon Armenia's commitments and legislative adjustments under the Paris Agreement. Specifically, Irina Ghaplanyan submitted the present status of implementation and furtherance of nationally determined contributions. The Deputy Minister spotlighted the essential of establishing infrastructures in favor of continued development and economic growth of the country.
Also, the workshop was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Environment and other stakeholder ministries, as well as sectoral specialists and experts of NGOs, international organizations. In the course of the event, the projects and further steps directed to nationally determined contributions, improvement of climate change actions were considered.
