Training workshop for organizations owning polychlorinated biphenyls


It took place the training wrkshop for organizations owning PCBs (polychlorinated bphenyls) on accounting, sampling and labeling of PCB-containing oils and equipment under “Regional Demonstration Project for Coordinated Management of ODS and POPs Disposal in Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Armenia” jointly implemented by the Ministry of Environment and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
Deputy Minister of Environment Irina Ghaplanyan welcomed the participants of the workshop and highlighted the importance of disposal of PCB-containing oils, which is one of the obligations under the Stockholm Convention on “Persistent Organic Pollutants”.
The training was held by Professor Ivan Holoubek, Director of Research Centre for Toxic Compounds in the Environment (RECETOX) of Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic. The corresponding specialists of different branches of “ENA” CJSC and “High Voltage Electric Networks” CJSC, Hrazdan TPP, Yerevan TPP, “International Energy Corporation” and “Gazprom Armenia” CJSCs were in attendance.
