On the joint initiative of the Ministry of Environment, UNDP in Armenia and the German Agency for International Cooperation or (GIZ), there took place a workshop addressed to effective forest management.
The workshop is focused on forestry legislation amendments, introduction of innovative technologies, exchange of experience and other related issues.
Deputy Minister of Environment Vardan Melikyan made opening remarks. Welcoming those present, the Deputy Minister attributed importance to the need to assume measures in such a format, notably, to increase work efficiency of the forestry staff. In this context, Vardan Melikyan referred to Armenia's commitments, priorities, projects directed to forest restoration.
In his turn, Acting Chairman of Committee of Forest of the Ministry of Environment Samvel Sahakyan wished the participants of the workshop productive consultations. He expressed hope that the works will be continued, contributing to the improvement of the sphere.
The workers of the Ministry of Environment, Committee of Forest of the Ministry of Environment and representatives of international organizations, that had submitted projects meant for efficacious management and development of the forest sector, attended the workshop.
The participants made suggestions for revealing forest-related issues and identifying the ways to solve thereof through team works and discussions.
Afterwards, the results of the discussions were summarized and further steps were clarified.
