The delegations headed by Minister of Nature Protection Erik Grigoryan and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to the Republic of Armenia Jonathan Lacôte considered the Armenian-French cooperation agenda on environmental issues.
The Minister of Nature Protection noted with a note of satisfaction that the meetings of the representatives of the two countries regarding enviornmental bottlenecks have become more frequent recently, highlighting the friendly nature of Armenian-French relations. Minister Grigoryan referred to the status of discussions with France on introduction of the innovative climate finance mechanism undertaken by Armenia. First Deputy Minister Irina Ghaplanyan briefed about the results of the meetings on that initiative with the state responsible officials during her last visit conducted to France.
The meetings with senior French officials and representatives of state environmental organizations were presented, in the course of which the proposal of Armenia to introduce the climate finance mechanism was submitted to them. Jonathan Lacôte welcomed the initiative and expressed willingness to cooperate closely. At the end of the meeting the sides agreed to speed up the implementation of the innovative climate finance mechanism through formal communication and meetings and to boost the cooperation in sectorial other issues.
