Minister of Nature Protection Erik Grigoryan met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Armenia Giorgi Saganelidze. The sides discussed issues concerning the status and the prospects for cooperation between two countries in environmental protection sphere. Reference was also made to the joint activities in the framework of regional environmental projects, specifically the transboundary program of “Lake Arpi” national park and “Javakheti” protected areas, inclusive of its socio-economic significance in terms of environmental protection and for local residents.
At the request of the Ambassador, Erik Grigoryan presented the priorities of the government adopted in the field of nature protection, as well as the status of reforms launched by the Ministry.
Besides, the sides emphasized the necessity of deepening and expanding cooperation between environmental protection ministries of two countries, mindful of introducing efficacious mechanisms to that effect.
