"Green Initiatives" foster green thinking


There took place the official opening ceremony of "eco pavilion" in the Northern Avenue, which marked the start-up of "Green Initiatives" environmental campaign. In attendance were Minister of Nature Protection Erik Grigoryan, Dmitry Mariyasin, Acting UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia, officers of international and non-governmental organizations.
"Green Initiatives" campaign is conducted under the aegis of the Ministry of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia within the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF) "Generate Global Environmental Benefits through Environmental Education and Raising Awareness of Stakeholders" project scopes.

“The Green Initiatives project focuses on piloting the implantation of green thinking among the society, people's behavioral change. From now on, protected areas, SNCOs and regional divisions of the Ministry of Nature Protection will apply the LED lighting system, due to which greenhouse gas emissions will reduce, inclusive of the funds paid from the state budget for lighting in all the organizations of the Ministry of Nature Protection, " Erik Grigoryan stated.
For a week (September 18 - 25), the eco pavilion illustrating environmental lifestyle will be installed in the center of the city, where you can see furniture and household items made from recycled plastic, recharging of cell phones from solar panels.
The "Green Pavilion" is located in the vicinity of the fountain of the Northern Avenue.
Also, the ceremony of handing LED lamps and relevant certificates to the regional divisions was held in the Ministry of Nature Protection in the frames of "Green Initiatives" events.
