Minister of Nature Protection Erik Grigoryan received the representatives of the Urban Foundation for Sustainable Development (UFSD) led by Director Nune Ghazakhetsyan. The meeting focused on the actions of current projects conducted with the environmentally sound components by the Foundation.
Nune Ghazakhetsyan submitted the measures accomplished within "Turning Enviromental Challenges into Opportunities: Introducing Construction Materials from Plastic Waste" project scopes, stressing that the project envisages not only collection and storing of plastic wastes in the RA various regions, but also producing construction materials using them.
For instance, it is planned to introduce a plastic waste recycling plant with Swedish pioneered technology in Syunik Region, which products will be provided free of charge to those communities from where these wastes have been collected at a preliminary stage. The Director of the Foundation informed that thanks to the improvement of the infrastructures of 5 communities in Ararat Valley, drinking and irrigation water losses will be minimized within "Efficient and Participatory Water Resources Managment" project scopes.
Minister Erik Grigoryan emphasized the priority of selected environmental targets in the projects conducted by the Foundation, set a great store on reasonable use of grant funds, thereby advisiing to integrate the works accomplished by the country and other projects in the above mentioned directions, to ensure preventing of their repetitions.
