The RA Ministry of Nature Protection organized a training seminar on “Prevention of Open Burning of Wastes”. The workshop was held within the scopes of “Best Available Techniques and Best Environmental Practices (BAT/BEP) for reduction of unintentionally produced persistent organic pollutants releases from open burning sources” project implemented by RA Ministry of Nature Protection along with United Nations Industrial Development Organization /UNIDO/. Interested departments, the specialists of the RA National Academy of Sciences were engaged.
In the course of the seminar International Expert Andrea Sbrilli presented a plan of actions on ''Guiding principles of environmentally friendly waste management at landfill sites”, ''Methodological application of the best modern technologies or in environmental sense addressing open dumps'', “Mechanical, biological treatment”, ''Best Available Techniques and Best Environmental Practices for utilization of agricultural wastes'' focused on curbing open burning of wastes in landfill sites.
The project is implemented in pursuance of the responsibilities undertaken with Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (2003); the parties should support methodological application of the best modern technologies or in environmental sense addressing their prevention.
