RA Minister of Nature Protection received Science and Technology Adviser to the Secretary of State and US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia

RA Minister of Nature Protection Aramayis Grigoryan received Science and Technology Adviser to the Secretary of State Vahan Turekian and US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Richard M. Mills as well as other embassy workers.

Minister Aramayis Grigoryan greeting the guests appreciated the willingness and support of the US Government for the programs directed to combating environmental challenges. He particularly noted: “Partnership with the US Government is significant in environmental field, in particular a number of projects over saving water resources and efficient management have already been accomplished and will be continual. I do hope that implementing projects will have the desired outputs”.

Doctor Vahan Turekian thanking for the reception stated that the efforts of Armenia addressing global and local environmental problems: climate change, ozone layer destruction, water resource saving, effective management and other challenges are praiseworthy. “As an ecologist I appreciate the membership of the Republic of Armenia at various international environmental conventions and protocols arising therefrom; within the scope of which Armenia has undertaken responsibilities; I express my willingness to support the sphere issues,” mentioned Vahan Turekian.

At the end of the meeting, the parties discussed existing problems of importing and exporting fauna and flora endangered species. Ambassador Richard M. Mills stated that the US representation is willing to support the improvement of the sector and training organization. In this context, it was settled to set a working group comprised of the US Embassy and the RA Ministry of Nature Protection representatives and start relevant preparations for the latter. The works will be coordinated by the First Deputy Minister Simon Papyan, International Cooperation Head Artur Danielyan and US Embassy Second Secretary -Vice Consul Raphael Sambou.
