Cooperation mechanisms envisaged under the project of joint activities of three departments (Ministry of Nature Protection, the RA Police and Gegharkunik Regional Administration) within the period of hunting ban were discussed during the meeting at the RA Ministry of Nature Protection.

Minister Aramayis Grigoryan, Deputy Head of Police Samvel Hovhannisyan, Deputy Governor of Gegharkunik Region Karen Hakobyan and heads of relevant subdivisions participated.

On the bases of N2459-161note of Zoology and Hydro Ecology Scientific Center of the RA National Academy of Sciences (October 29, 2015), “Activities implemented within the period of natural fish reproduction at Lake Sevan”N320-A order was adopted (November 4, 2015). The latter prohibits fishing and crayfishing within the period of natural reproduction of ishkhan and sig fish at Lake Sevan within November 20-December 25, 2015, and January 6-20, 2016.

Minister Aramayis Grigoryan greeting the participants presented the program of joint activities which envisages closing all forest roads across the lake and arranging inspection spots, to ensure the withdrawal of all kind of fishing appliance, swimming means, lodgings from “Sevan” national park area and banningall kinds of hunting and fishing appliances there.

Meetings must be organized to explain the situation to the residents of Lichk, Vardenik, Akhpradzor, Makenis, Lchavan, Sotk, Karchaghbyur, Nerkin Shorja, Jaghacadzor, Geghamabak, Akunk, Patvan, Khachaghbyur, Kusakunk, Torfavan communities situated nearby Lichk, Vardenik, Makenis and Masrik rivers. Meanwhile, supervision should be conducted across the rivers.

Aramayis Grigoryan noted: “Out task is to raise the awareness and organize supervision thus resulting in increasing the number of fish in the lake and developing the region. I urge our people to refrain from fishing. Meanwhile, the employees of “Sevan” national park must be more strict and if necessary to call the police.

Deputy Head of Police Samvel Hovhannisyan informed that the police will cooperate with the workers of Sevan NP, Regional Administration and State Environmental Inspectorate, thus increasing the effectiveness of activities.

Deputy Governor of Gegharkunik Region Karen Hakobyan stated that they will implement the envisaged activities and will discuss the issue with the residents.

The inspections realized by State Environmental Inspectorate in the republic were discussed during which there were revealed cases of selling sig fish. Particularly 279 /257kg/ (Yerevan) and 43 (Shirak and Lori Regions) sig fish was confiscated (November 10-17). 333 /176.5kg/ sig and 54.5 kg karas fish had been confiscated three weeks earlier. Overall, 655 /453.5kg/ sig and 54.4 kg karas fish was confiscated by State Environmental Inspectorate during the month.

The fish confiscated in Yerevan was handed to Yerevan special educational complex for children with hearing disorders, Yerevan special school for visually impaired children named after Nikoghayos Tigranyan, A&P Abrahamyans’ and Nor-Nork charitable eating houses, “Nork boarding school” SNCO and “Zatik” Child Assistance SNCO. The fish confiscated in the regions was handed to kindergartens, boarding houses and special schools in the region.
