RA Minister of Nature Protection Aramayis Grigoryan was on a working visit to Ararat Region. At the meeting in the regional administration with the head of the region and the heads of communities there were discussed environmental problems in the region, particularly efficient utilization of Ararat artesian basin resources, towards the irrigation season: water utilization permission problems connected with underground self-streaming and mechanical water abstraction pits, the current situation of dumps in the region, regulating problems related to dump management, reforming the sector, the necessity of essential improvements as well as clarification of defining the territory and the boundary of “Khosrov Forest” state sanctuary.
During the discussion Minister Grigoryan assigned the heads of relevant subdivisions of the Ministry to collaborate with the heads of communities and with the regional administration and to obtain beneficial resolution.
Later on the working group left for Vedi section of “Khosrov Forest” state reserve, where letters of thanks were awarded to the participants of extinguishment of the fire broken out in vegetated area on March 12.
RA Minister of Nature Protection Aramayis Grigoryan granting the participants noted: “The fires significantly damaged specially protected areas of nature; however the fire could have disastrous consequences, if it were not your staunch attitude, rapid response, joint and impressive fire extinguishment works. I would like to thank the employees of “Khosrov Forest” state reserve, relevant subdivisions of the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations, the RA Regional Police, representatives of Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets, the heads of Vedi and Urcadzor communities and individual volunteers, who spared no effort for the combat of the disaster and ensured minimal loss. “Khosrov Forest” state sanctuary is a treasure for our country and attentiveness towards and due preservation of the latter is the obligation of the RA Ministry of Nature Protection as well as every citizen. However, we all are powerless to aver a calamity. Our task is to organize the works productively in emergency situations, which we successfully did in the due manner”. RA Minister of Nature Protection Aramayis Grigoryan had a meeting with the workers of the SNCO, discussed the existing main problems and further tasks to be implemented.
30 employees of the reserve,residents of Vedi and Urcadzor communities, RegionalCrisis Management Centreof the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations, the regional rescue division, “MEVANTS” SNCOandrepresentatives of Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assetswere involved in the fire extinguishmentworks.
Extinguishment works of the fire were under the coordination of RA Deputy Minister of the RA Nature Protection Khachik Hakobyan, head of the Staff of the RA Nature Protection Khajak Aghabekyan, First Deputy Minister of the RA Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations Vahe Terteryan and Director of Rescue Service S. Azaryan, head of the division of Vedi Provincial department of the Police of the Republic of Armenia colonel S. Khocharyan, head of Urcadzhor community Rafik Andreasyan and Vedi mayor Varujan Barseghyan. Theworks were under the immediate coordination of RA Minister of Nature Protection Aramayis Grigoryan.
It was possible to extinguish the fire due to the works lasting for two hours, to avoid serious consequences of natural disaster and of damage caused to the nature. 10ha grass covered area was damaged because of the thunder.
