Armenia will receive $7.9 million from the (Global Environment Facility) to implement climate change, biodiversity and land preservation program in 2014-2018. On this occasion, the Committee meeting was organized in collaboration with Global Environment Facility in the Ministry of Nature Protection of Armenia. Minister Aramayis Grigoryan thanked the members of the Committee for their active participation. The Head of the Program implementation Unit G. Hovhannisyan represented project proposals of GEF-6 technical and financial assistance, informing that grant amount under GEF-6 provided to Armenia will be $7.9 million. Armenia will submit its proposals to the Global Environment Facility till the end of September, 2014 to be included in GEF-6.
During the session the software applications were submitted, 2 of which related to climate change, 10 to biodiversity conservation and 6 to land conservation field, as well as land software project submitted by the RA Government Program Implementation Unit, which is proposed to implement in collaboration with the Ministry of Nature Protection.
Summing up the meeting Minister A. Grigoryan offered to submit in one-week period scientifically grounded primary project proposals directed to the solution of environmental issues of Republic of Armenia and expressed willingness to organize their effective discussions.
At the same time it was noted that the proposals should exclude duplications, not be limited only by international experience but have basis providing effective continuity.

Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body was defined as a subordinate body to the Government by the RA law on “State administration system bodies” adopted on March 23, 2018, thus citizens may send their calls and applications to the Head of the Inspection Body (Address: 46 Charenc, Yerevan, tel. 011-81-85-92).
