Being in charge of one of the most pivotal organizations of the Ministry, he exercised his professionalism and knowledge, zeal and experience in preserving rich biodiversity of Syunik. Vardan Gevorgyan was one of the pioneers of the Artsakh liberation war, the commander of the military unit. He has never avoided responsibility. It is not accidental that he enjoys high reputation and respect among the ministry’s staff, combat friends and those knowing him.
The entire staff of the Ministry of Nature Protection expresses deepest condolences to his family and relatives.

Single use plastic banning initiative starts from the city of Talin, Aragatsotn province
On July 10th the Minister of Nature Protection kicked off a strategy aimed at gradual reduction and eventual ban of single-use plastic. The strategy has two components. The first one focuses on piloting the implantation of green behavior in one community, and gauging the receptiveness of green policies and behavioral change.

On the bases of the propositions of N2459-152 note presented by Director of Zoology and Hydro Ecology Scientific Center of the RA National Academy of Sciences (July 20, 2018) Minister of Nature Protection Erik Grigoryan signed an order defining hunting amounts and periods envisaged for 2018-2019. For the first time, the order prohibits mammal hunting during the hunting period except for wolves and jackals.

The residents of Alaverdi have recently detected a griffon vulture with an injury (Gyps fulvus).
The griffon vulture is registered in the Red Book of Armenia as endangered (VU D1), as well as in Appendix II of CITES and Appendix II of Bern Convention.
