Mercury-added products will be phased out
A grant project is implemented under the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia in a bid to phase out mercury-added products (lamps, thermometers, etc.), thereby subsequently banning their use in Armenia. The necessary legal basis will be developed, public awareness-raising activities on harmful impacts of mercury will be held within the framework of envisaged actions.
Hunting is permitted only on Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and on holidays and remembrance days prescribed by law
On the basis of the 2nd paragraph of the 5th Article of the RA Law on “Hunting and hunting resources” and the 8th point of the 1st paragraph of the 8th Article, Minister of Environment Erik Grigoryan signed an order defining permissible hunting amounts and periods envisaged for hunting animals for 2019-2020.

The Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia, being the National Designated Authority of the Green Climate Fund (NDA GCF), invites licensed banks and non-banking financial institutions in the Republic of Armenia to join the project as the Implementing Partner within the framework of up to $700 thousand grant project. The forest will be supervised via smart IOT sensor systems
Modern technologies hereafter enters the forests of Armenia. There were detected the cases of illegal cutting of trees in the areas of Stepanavan forestry, thereby 10 sensor control devices have been set up here. The devices detect sounds of ax, gasoline, fire, or any other movement within seconds, and send GSM signals to the server, where the specially designed software determines their nature and transmits coordinates to networked systems, to mobile phones and computers of forest protection providers.

Potentially contaminated sites of storks by organic oil are being cleaned
The drainage works have initiated nearby Hovtashen community, where, according to the monitoring, the accumulation of organic oils were detected which had covered over 100 storks.The cleaning activities are accomplished by the employees of "Melioration" CJSC of the Water Committee. The representatives of the Ministry of Environment, the Water Committee, the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body, regional and community bodies were also present.
