With backing of the Ministry of Environment, in the frames of “Mainstreaming Sustainable Land and Forest Management in Mountain of North-Eastern Armenia” project, funded by Global Environmental Facility (GEF) and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in the period of 2018-2019 “Lore” Rescue Team NGO implemented “Sports and adventure tourism development” project in the forest area nearby Stepanavan, the objective of which is the development of nature-based tourism through establishing a rope park.

The Ministry of Environment developed a new draft focused on streamlining usage and sustainable management of bioresources in Lake Sevan. It is proposed to ensure the conveyance of swimming means into or out of Lake Sevan for commercial fishing only from 17 mentioned districts in the draft (the districts are indicated in the image attached).

CLARIFICATION on making supplements to the law on “Freedom of Information”
The only objective of the Ministry of Environment is to increase the level of environmental security; the Ministry pursues no other objective.
The proposed amendment stems from the strategy on environmental education and upbringing development yet approved by N7 protocol decree of the Government on February 22, 2018.
First, we find it necessary to state that the proposed regulation is defined in the Aarhus Convention, moreover, this regulation is also set out in Directive 2003/4/EC, particularly in (h) point of the 2nd paragraph of Article 4 thereof.
The Ministry of Environment, in collaboration with Global Environment Facility (GEF) and UNDP, initiated an awareness campaign, in the frames of which 60 social advertising panels on water resources, air pollution reduction, forest protection and fight against plastic were to be placed in different parts of the republic.
The Ministry of Environment urges not to throw used medical masks and gloves in the places not envisaged for these purposes.
We urge you to avoid polluting the environment, as apart from the environmental pollution, used masks or gloves thrown on the street are potential sources for spread of the infection.
